Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission?

In most cases, you do not need planning permission to build a pergola or gazebo on your property in the UK, as long as the structure meets the following conditions:

Size: The structure must not exceed 2.5 metres in height if it is within 2 metres of the property boundary. Away from the boundary, a pergola or gazebo can be up to 4 metres tall if it has a dual-pitched roof, or 3 metres tall for other roof types.

Location: It should not be located forward of the principal elevation of your house (i.e., the front of the property).

Area: The structure, along with any other buildings in the garden (like sheds), must not cover more than 50% of the land surrounding the original house.

Listed Buildings: If your property is a listed building or in a designated area (e.g., national park, conservation area), additional restrictions may apply, and planning permission may be required.

If you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to check with your local council’s planning department to confirm whether planning permission is needed based on your specific circumstances, and as always we’re happy to help!

How Is Your Timber treated?

Yes, all of our timber is pressure-treated to ensure it is durable, long-lasting, and resistant to rot, decay, and insect infestation. This treatment process helps protect the wood from the harsh UK weather, ensuring your structure stays in great condition for many years. If you have specific treatment requirements, such as additional fire or water resistance, feel free to contact us for more information.

Quick assembly

We are committed to sustainability and source our timber from responsibly managed forests that adhere to strict environmental standards, including FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification. This ensures that the timber we use is renewable and harvested in ways that protect ecosystems, biodiversity, and local communities. Additionally, we continually strive to reduce waste and energy consumption throughout our manufacturing process to minimize our environmental footprint. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
